Drive Time Projects by Nicole

Today we got to pick our drive time projects! Drive time is when we get to make or do something we are passionate about with someone or just by ourselves. We work on our projects every Friday and once everyone is finished, we have to present it to the class. We are the only class at Sunnybrae that does Drive time. We have made machines, a wooden guitar, birdhouses, wooden toys, instruments, room decor and a lot of other arts and crafts. We love doing drive time projects as they are completely ‘driven’ by us, with the teacher or ‘expert’ helpers guiding us with our ideas.

Wig Wednesday by Ruby

Today was WIG WEDNESDAY which basically means that we got to wear any wig, hat or cool hair. It was so great to get to see a whole bunch of people getting together to raise money for child cancer. Together as a school, we all raised a lot of money. Wig wednesday is such a fun day because not only is it for a good cause, but you get to have a lot of fun . So it's a win win for everyone. But my favourite wig had to be Miss Batemans blue curly wig.

CoL Performance by Rowyn

The Year six festival choir and ukulele group performed at Westlake Boys High School for the Community of Learning (CoL) performance. 9 schools in the Pupuke Kāhui ako community all decided to join up for a big concert with a performance group from each school showing us what they had practised and rehearsed forever. The Sunnybrae group sang ‘the fight song’ by Rachel Platten. After all of the schools performed, we all sang a mass version of Pokarekareana. It was amazing 9 schools all singing together with multiple instruments playing at once. The show ended at 8:30pm (well it was supposed t0 - it ended a bit late but that was ok). The song at the end was beautiful and I think everyone in the audience enjoyed the show. If I could do it again, I would.

Receiving letters from our buddies by Olly

Wow we got to open our letters from our buddies in Gordonton today. It was great learning lots more information about each of our buddies such as about their families, their hobbies, their favourite subjects at school and lots more. Everyone was so excited to get their letters and so was I. I can't wait to write back to my buddy and tell him all about me!

Brayden - Judo comp

At my judo competition I had 3 fights they were very fun but hard. They were hard because I was very very very nervous because my ukis were good fighters. On my first fight I could have got disqualified because I dropped down to my knees. If you drop to your knees they can start going over then their face can hit the ground and it can stretch their neck up and break it.
