Pak n Save Trip
Yesterday we were lucky enough to go on a trip to our local Pak n Save! Andy from the 'Food for Thought Programme' met us there and gave us a worksheet to complete about the nutritional value of selected foods. The sheet was broken up into different sections (dairy, breads, cereals, snack foods and muesli bars). We had to select a product that we could eat everyday and a product that we would only eat sometimes and then compare the different nutrients - it was very interesting! A big thanks to all of our parent helpers that came with us :)

Food For Thought Programme
We were really lucky to be able to take part in the 'Food for Thought Programme'. A lady called Andy came into our class and took us for two lessons to teach us about the different nutritional values that are in our foods. We also learnt about the food pyramid and making good food choices that are going to nourish our bodies. Some of us were really surprised by the amount of sugar that is in some drinks!

Library sessions
Every week, our class visits our school library. During this time, we explore the different books that are in the library and complete a library task booklet (with lots of different skills in it). We can use the computers to search for our favourite books by title or authors and we are allowed to take home two books each week!

Milk in Schools
Our school takes part in the 'Milk in Schools' Programme, where we receive free milk everyday! Our teacher also lets us have a piece of fruit and we love listening to her read our class novel while we enjoy these treats.

Music lessons
Every two weeks on a Wednesday, we have a music lesson with our specialist teacher Mrs Babbage. We learn a range of skills with a different focus each term.
Fitness trail
We have an awesome fitness trail right outside our classroom! We love going on here for fitness lessons and during break times. Sometimes we line up in two lines and race each other over and under all of the obstacles.

Class Treaty
We read a book called 'The Tree Hut Treaty' by Wiremu Grace. This is a story about 2 families of children that build a tree hut together using combined equipment from both of their houses. After a while, they start to argue over little things to do with the tree hut and they end up closing it down. Finally, they come up with an idea to create a set of rules to abide by so that they can all get along when using the tree hut. Once they had finished writing the rules, they each signed the paper and displayed it so everyone could see. We thought this was a great idea, so we have created our own Room 11 Treaty and signed it. This is displayed in our classroom for all of us to see.
Rebus puzzles
We have been completing some Rebus puzzles to help us to turn our brains on in the morning - here are some examples - can you solve them?

School Values
Our School Values are really important! They spell RICE and stand for Respect, Independence, Cooperation and Excellence. In Room 11, these letters are stuck onto our class whiteboard to remind us to display these values everyday.
Figure Me Out
We completed an awesome maths activity called 'Figure Me Out'. We had to come up with some maths facts related to ourselves e.g. shoe size, number on my letterbox, number of siblings in my family... Then we had to create an equation that everyone has to solve to try and figure out who is who. These are displayed on our classroom wall for everyone to see.

Balloon Pop
We each had to write down 5 facts about ourselves, scrunch them up and put them inside a balloon. We then blew the balloons up and threw them around the room. After a while, our teacher stopped us and we had to grab one balloon. We popped the balloons (which was really loud!) Everyone in the class sat in a circle with their popped balloon and clues - we took turns reading out the clues and we had to guess who was who! It was really funny when Brayden popped his own clues! What are the chances of that happening?

Where have our footprints been this summer?
We used footprint and jandal templates to decorate all of the places that our footprints went over the summer holidays - by the looks of it, everyone had a lot of fun!
